The Inauguration of Elizabeth Garrett, 13th President of Cornell University

Description: Please join us for the inauguration ceremony of Elizabeth Garrett, the 13th president of Cornell University. There are no tickets required for this event; however, guests are asked to be in their seats no later than 9:45 a.m. The procession will begin at 10:00 a.m., proceeding from Ho Plaza to the Arts Quad. Please note: The rain location for the inauguration ceremony will be Barton Hall, where seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community Picnic

"Democracy and Inequality" Faculty Panel

Description: Growing global inequality and its effect on democracy is one of the most pressing issues facing the world today. Cornell scholars are preeminent in the field, exploring how inequality interacts with the allocation of natural resources, immigration, access to education and health care, as well as job creation and economic opportunity. This panel, moderated by President Garrett, brings together new perspectives to the challenge of inequality for democratic governance. Introduction by: Gretchen Ritter, the Harold Tanner Dean of Arts and Sciences. Moderator: President Elizabeth Garrett. Faculty Panel: Robert H. Fireworks and Laser Light Show

Description: Don't miss the Fireworks and Laser Light Show, a Homecoming tradition. This celebration includes live music from Go Go Gadjet (gogogadjet.com), special guests, and an exciting finale. Homecoming 5K

Location: F. R. Newman Arboretum, Cornell Plantations
Fee: $15 before September 15, $20 after September 15
Description: The Homecoming 5K is a fun run that is open to the public. All ages are invited to participate. The 3.1-mile course will loop through the beautiful F. R. Newman Arboretum. Preregister online for $15.00 before September 15. After this date, the price will increase to $20.00 and T-shirts cannot be guaranteed. Proceeds from the race will go to the United Way of Tompkins County. Co-sponsored by the Cornell Fraternity & Sorority Community and Mortar Board. Register here.

Touchdown Sculpture and 1915 Plaza Dedication

Date: Saturday, September 19, 2015

Location: in front of Teagle Hall
Description: A sculpture of Touchdown the Bear will be dedicated, which will commemorate the four live Touchdown bear cubs that each served as the football team's mascot in 1915, 1916, 1919, and 1939 and evolved into the Touchdown mascot that is seen today at multiple athletic and social events. This site will also be dedicated to the football team of 1915, the year of Cornell's first undefeated season, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of that national championship.

Big Red Fan Festival

Description: Alumni, families, and friends are invited to celebrate Cornell Homecoming and Big Red football with an assortment of free events geared toward all ages, including demonstrations from many of the colleges and units, tailgate parties, rides, music, and more. Cornell Glee Club Homecoming Concert and 50th Reunion of Glee Clubbers from the 1966 Southeast Asia Tour

Description: Under the direction of Robert Isaacs, the Cornell Glee Club takes the Bailey Hall stage for the Homecoming Concert 2015. In addition to unveiling its new fall repertoire and to a performance by the Hangovers, the Glee Club will reprise some traditional favorites and conclude the show with beloved Cornell songs. Additionally, this Homecoming will feature a performance from returning Glee Clubbers from the 1966 Tour of Southeast Asia under the direction of Thomas A. Sokol, director emeritus. They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 12-week tour of nine countries. Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

Cornell Glee Club Homecoming Concert and 50th Reunion of Glee Clubbers from the 1966 Southeast Asia Tour

Description: Under the direction of Robert Isaacs, the Cornell Glee Club takes the Bailey Hall stage for the Homecoming Concert 2015. In addition to unveiling its new fall repertoire and to a performance by the Hangovers, the Glee Club will reprise some traditional favorites and conclude the show with beloved Cornell songs. Additionally, this Homecoming will feature a performance from returning Glee Clubbers from the 1966 Tour of Southeast Asia under the direction of Thomas A. Sokol, director emeritus. They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 12-week tour of nine countries. Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

Description: With the actors speaking in authentic Scot accents and the action filmed in bizarrely stylized interiors meant to emphasize the production's theatricality, Orson Welles's Shakespeare adaptation is one moody strip of celluloid. This film was produced by the small-time studio Republic Pictures after being kicked off the RKO lot. Welles envisioned several cost-cutting techniques (such as actors lip-syncing to a prerecorded soundtrack) to make a historical epic from a B-movie budget.
